Taste the Pain

Wood, Rock, Turmeric, Hibiscus, and Black Tea

This piece was created for a group art show at Flat Black Gallery in Palm Desert, CA. Taste The Pain is temporarily unavailable.

Taste the Pain was created with all natural found items. Pigments made from Turmeric, hibiscus, and black tea. The dark lines in the piece were created with a wood burning tool. This piece was inspired by walks Ray would take around the La Quinta area and Ray’s personal journey back from burnout.

Taste the pain is about doing the hard work. It’s also about being nice to yourself. Letting your body and mind heal, rest and recover instead of pushing through and causing injury. It’s a humbling thing when your mind and body are no longer the invincible beings of youth.
